V15 - Getting noticed

Celeste_TipsI have recently become a finalist in the Queensland Regional Awards.

What I think is so good about this – apart from the obvious which I am thrilled about, is that it gives celebrants the opportunity to be recognised for their contribution to their own community outside the realms of ‘Wedding World’.

I am such an advocate as you know, of getting the message across that we are in a service industry.  Admittedly the level of service we offer does come with a high degree of accountability but at the end of the day, we stand there and rub shoulders with other business persons in many other service provider fields.  Why should we not then also be recognised for what we bring to your community in the same way as those in other businesses would.

I urge and encourage other celebrants to put their hand up and take the opportunity to accept the honour and recognition if they are nominated such as I was for an award such as this.

For my little hinterland town of Cooroy and the Noosa Shire, it is a feather in our collective cap and only lifts the profile of the local celebrant in a positive way especially in light of recent assumptions that have been made on our profession.
