Hello Everyone, Last issue Marj Bibes gave us a great tip about handling the guest reluctant to take their places. At one of my early weddings, after I pronounced the couple - husband and wife, everyone rushed forward to give their congratulations. The whole ceremony atmosphere seemed to crumble from there, and it was a nightmare to make sure all the paperwork was signed properly.
From then on I have made a rule to give very specific instructions. Such as: "Thank you ladies and gentlemen. In a moment we will be signing the paperwork in front of you. However we have not finished our ceremony as yet. I would like to come back to present the Marriage Certificate to X and Y. So please remain where you are, except for those wishing to take some photos - who are most welcome to join us. While we are away, you may like to listen to some music chosen by Y and X for this time. Thank You." Everything seems to run smoothly then, whether we have further readings or not. Then we can finish with the couple taking their first stroll together after the "Introducing to you - John and Mary, our newly married Mr and Mrs Smith!" Rona Goold Robertson NSW
