Associations listed on the Australian Celebrants and Celebrations Network are invited to submit issues, updates or association news with the aim of improving cooperation amongst associations representing celebrants and amongst celebrants in general.

The ACMCV will be represented at the meeting in Canberra on October 15th by our Vice President Lyn Knorr and we will have a better idea of what is happening with OPD after that meeting. We support the idea of using the subjects in Cert. IV in Celebrancy as OPD for existing celebrants.
We look forward to the prospect of working with other celebrant associations and over the past few months we wrote to each of the celebrant associations listed on the Attorney-General's Department website in an effort to rally their support in joining or forming a national celebrant body. We are very pleased that a date has been set for that purpose and that both the Attorney General and Ms Deborah Nance will be present for part of the discussions in forming a national peak celebrant group. Lyn Knorr will also be representing our Association at that meeting to be held on October 16th.
The ACMCV has a positive and flexible approach to both OPD and a peak celebrant body and we look forward to the chance to better voice the opinions of our members when the peak body is properly formed.
Our coming activities have been loaded in the Calendar for ACMCV members and interested others to note.

MCAINCWA held a Getting Started seminar for newly appointed marriage celebrants on October 8th. Many attending did their courses up to two years ago so needed a bit of a refresher. Due to the success of the first Getting Started Seminar, for newly appointed celebrants, another will be held on November 1st. Enquiries to Dorothy or Stan.
Our association will be represented by myself in Canberra for the OPD providers meeting on the 15th and the Association group meeting the following day.
The Marriage Celebrants Australia (Inc) est WA is holding a Christmas dinner function on December 3rd at Miss Maud's Swedish Restaurant, Perth CBD. Staff members from the Registrar of Births Deaths and Marriages will be our guests as usual, providing newer celebrants with a chance to meet with them and have their questions answered in a more informal way.
