Hoping to observe a funeral service Sydney in Dec

Postby Nancy Downes » Tue Dec 06, 2011 8:50 am

Only one assignment remains (179 completed!) to finish an extensive Celebrant's course - to sit in on a funeral officiated by a Celebrant. Easier said than done, sadly. I review the newspaper to shortlist those that appear non-religious or private but can't predict which might have a Celebrant. I contacted Macquarie Park Crematorium (local to me in Sydney) who kindly advised me to go via Funeral Directors. I've contacted a few but was told they currently had none on the roster and suggested I contact individual Celebrants. I've called a few near North Ryde but they had marriages but no funerals. I'm now seeking a broader path because my Dec 20th deadline is fast approaching. I'm uncomfortable just showing up and prefer to ask permission and donate to the family's favourite charity in appreciation. Is anyone officiating at a Sydney funeral this month, not Thursday (working), preferably in the North Ryde or Northern Beaches areas, where I might be welcome to observe? It would be tremendously appreciated. Kindest regards, Nancy Downes

Hi Nancy ...

I know its been a couple of months since you posted here wanting to sit in on a funeral service, but I was wondering how you got on. Did you find a celebrant who agreed to let you sit in?

I Hope So
