Beautiful fresh morning, we had finally had a little rain. The ground was covered in leaf litter being spring and we chose a lovely shady place under some beautiful rain forest trees.
About 5 minutes into the ceremony, I looked up and thought green ants must have been falling from the trees because I could feel some on my back and shoulders. I managed to ignore them and wiggled about a little in the hope they would fall off.
Another couple of minutes later I knew I was in trouble and looked up again thinking where are they coming from ? . . . . . because they were up my dress, which was long, on my legs, in my bra and knickers, between my toes biting me so I said “sorry”, threw my book down and started jumping up and down trying to get them off me.
Everyone was laughing. So was I, after I had gotten what ants I could off me. We investigated. Because there was so much leaf litter on the ground, I was in actual fact standing on a small nest of green ants – well if anyone knows green ant nests they would know that even a small one can hold thousands.
We all had a good laugh.
I told them that I was glad they had a laugh at my expense. It really was quite funny, but it was quite difficult for me to continue because the bites were hurting me. When I got home I counted over 40 bites. The things we celebrants go though all in the name of creating wonderful memories for people!
