On a perfect day with clear blue sky in a setting of the most gorgeous Jacarandas in full flower, I had the honour of Naming Temperance, a dear, sweet, dainty little ten month old girl. Temperance wore a Jacaranda coloured headband with the flowers on her dress to match.
It was held on Saturday, 12th November 2011 at the Parramatta Park CAFÉ Events Venue on the banks of the Parramatta River this beautiful, historical backdrop was a perfect setting.
Temperance was born on in January 2011 to bring joy into the lives of her Mother J and her Brothers B and D.
We celebrated the arrival in style, after the introduction, the ceremony commenced with a description of Temperance’s favourite things, music and playing with her Brothers. Mum Janelle had requested a “spiritual” Naming and her star sign is Capricorn so in addition to her Birthstone being Garnet a protective stone, the beautiful moonstone with it spiritual qualities that assist in calming and soothing emotions was included.
After a Reading titled “Snugglebugs and Moonbeams” I wrote and dedicated to Temperance, Mum J lit a Remembrance candle in memory of her Parents which remained alight throughout the ceremony as a tribute. From this candle the Godparents together lighted theirs and the Naming candle in a Candle Unity Ceremony, lighting her way and guiding her footsteps and for continuity and unity of the generations.
Brothers B and D presented their Sister Temperance with a beautiful Amethyst egg, a protective stone representing their protection and to commemorate and honour Temperance on her Naming Day.
Following the Naming was a Water Ceremony and Blessing and we rounded off this very wonderful, ritualistic Ceremony full of meaning with Guests Wishes and Blessings, the warm and lovely rose quartz crystal for friendship, love kindness and compassion was used at the conclusion of the ceremony, each guest took a stone from a bowl and placed it into the a wishing well, handmade by Mum J for guests to make a wish for Temperance’s future journey in life.
