I became a celebrant in Dec 2009 and in April performed my first ceremony.

The couple were my son's partner's sister's sister. Now that is a mouthful but the ceremony was beautiful.

I think I forgot that celebrants do so much working on scripts, planning this and that and seeing the bride to be in track suit pants and a ponytail, you forget the end product until it happens.

The wedding was held at Grange in South Australia at the golf club, a beautiful setting.

The rehearsal was for under the gumtrees, and everyone forgot it got dark earlier ,and so we tried to work out who went where in the dark.

The two ring bearers of 3 years old got bored and ran off with groom to be in tow chasing them.

On the day I arrived early dressed so I would not freeze, to be told that it would, because of the heavy rain we had the night before be held inside.

So a touch of chaos ,when everyone wasn't sure where to stand, was forgotten when the music started, and the procession began.

Being the celebrant I had the best seat in the house so to speak and the view was magical.

This is where I will admit when Sheridan, the bride walked down the aisle i shed a tear, she looked so beautiful, happy and transformed.

I then knew that being a marriage celebrant was a magical, emotional experience for me.

I have worked in childcare for over 20 years and it was rewarding but this new pathway touched my heart in so many ways.

Thank you Sheridan and Blake for being my first.

Last weekend I was fortunate to do a naming ceremony for the same family.

I love my occupation, and the occasional tear of joy I know I will shed
