Brisbane Celebrant Krista Webb - Authorised Civil Marriage Celebrant - Appointed October 2010 Many thanks to Krista for providing her profile.
I love creativity; I love the richness of symbolism; and I am not one to shy away from a performance. This was how I ended up on the journey of becoming a Marriage Celebrant. Well, throw in the fun of my own marriage ceremony, and a longing for a change of career followed by having couple of children and you have the full story. Having spent many rewarding years in Secondary Drama Classrooms, broken intermittently with my other passion for event management, I have a keen interest in ‘making meaning’ whether it is through words, ritual or symbolism. With my background, public speaking was never going to be an issue either; in fact it is one of the key areas of training that I specialise in. I was attracted to Celebrancy when I came to the conclusion that I need to balance my home life with my passion for creating and events. I was appointed in October 2010 and performed my first wedding one month later. Since being appointed as a Celebrant I have conducted many beautiful and meaningful ceremonies, however my first ceremony stands out as a treasured memory, partially due to the gorgeous location of Yidney Rocks on Fraser Island but also the deep level of love and connectedness that was evident between the couple getting married. A stand out moment of the ceremony was the ritual of the Wine Box. The groom was a cabinetmaker and had fashioned a box with two locks in which a bottle of wine could be stored. The Bride and Groom (avid red wine drinkers) had a friend pick a bottle of wine suitable for cellaring and placed it in the box. The couple had written each other a love letter in which they had stated why they had fallen in love and their hopes and dreams for the future. They were also sealed in the box and the two differing keys were given to a trusted friend for safekeeping. The wine box was only to be opened in either of the two following situations. I look forward to sharing many inspirational moments with fellow Celebrants as well as meeting those wishing to "Celebrate their Moments". Krista Webb Authorised Marriage CelebrantBrisbane Queensland
