Our thanks to Anita for her celebrant profile. Anita Revel Margaret River WA Up until late 2000, I was loving life as a corporate chick in a Sydney marketing agency. Sadly, after the Olympic Games I was hit with the Post-Olympics Blues. Wishing for more meaning and fun in my life, I followed my heart to Western Australia. I spent a fabulous couple of years as marketing manager for a winery in the Margaret River wine region before deciding this was the life for me... Glamour, world-class wine, fine food, great friends and beaches to die for. I became an official Western Australian citizen when I married a local bloke in 2005. We live on a farm in Margaret River with a teenager, a toddler and a dog as loyal as his nearest cuddle. Why celebrancy ? The first time I married it was according to my mother's plan – in the Church and steeped in tradition. The second time around I wanted to get married *my* way. Back in 2005, however, there weren't many Marriage Celebrants around, and none of the ones I met with were fully prepared to tailor the ceremony to suit me. So, we eloped to Las Vegas and got hitched by Elvis. It was the most fun, memorable and laughter-packed day that it inspired me to become a celebrant – not to mimic what Elvis did for us, but to offer the same element of magic and delight in each tailored ceremony I do. My wedding was amazing; I want my brides to experience an amazing day also. I became an authorised Civil Marriage Celebrant in 2008, right alongside hundreds of other new Celebrants simultaneously registered by the Attorney General. At first I was intimidated by the influx of celebrants, but now I'm grateful that we have enough celebrants in Australia today to offer couples a wide choice of styles and levels of service. Although my home region is the stunning Margaret River region, I once traveled to the East Kimberley to conduct a wedding in the outback. The couple chose to be married on the banks of the Pentecost River at the foot of the spectacular Cockburn Ranges. It was easy to see why Baz Luhrmann chose this spot to film Hugh and Nicole's first kiss for the movie "Australia" – it was incredibly romantic and the star-studded skies have to be seen to be believed. (I wrote about that particular trip on Facebook) The Margaret River region is blessed with countless beautiful beaches. Some are wild surf beaches, some are tamer family beaches. Some have lawn and trees leading to the shore, while some have little rocky nooks that look great in the photos. Most of them have water the colour of jade and every blue-green hue either side. For couples thinking about a beach wedding in WA, it's definitely worth the time to visit a range of beaches to find one that suits you. I have a shortlist of favourite beaches that I can give couples who aren't sure where to start, and an indication of when they are at their best – some are best for mornings before the breeze comes in; others are better suited to late afternoon when the shade hits the beach; and one in particular is perfect at dusk, when you can watch a full moon rise over the water shortly after you've said "I do."
