Our thanks to Sharon for her Snapshot Sharon McLaughlin - Civil Marriage Celebrant - Appointed 2007I've worked in admin, retail, management, sports, health, safety and human resources. I have taught yoga and other health modalities since 1990, and have regularly sung in my classes and workshops. In 2005, I looked into celebrancy for a family member. I discovered that it was something that I would enjoy, and I had skills to offer. I trained and awaited attorney-general approval. 2007 I was appointed, and then my dad passed. My first celebrancy was a funeral, and then I didn't feel like advertising my services, so I let it unfold. I did my dads memorial service in 2008, and then started to feel ready. In 2009 I began my civil marriage celebrant services, and now continue to unfold my celebrant services to all occasions. All ceremonies are uniquely beautiful. There have been many memorable moments, all are beautiful - singing at my dads funeral and memorial; to a very moving poem written by a loving husband; to a beautiful butterfly and bubbles ceremony, to being caught in a down pour and still having a beautiful ceremony, to singing within the ceremony; and there are still many more moments that I treasure. They have all been beautiful people, beautiful moments, and I have felt privileged to be a part of their special day.As a celebrant I believe the key is to be authentic. As a marriage celebrant, I provide a service for the couple, making suggestions based on their needs. It is their day, as a celebrant it is my job to make it legal, the rest are trimmings the way the happy couple choose. I work in with all parties, from the happy couple, to their families; photographer etc. Tip: Once you get the legals right, you can relax; then the day can be about sharing the love, and enjoying the experience. It is always a pleasure and a privilege to be a celebrant for a memorable event. My focus is always professionalism, balanced between the needs of what is legally required and the needs of the people. Blessings be. Love, Light and Peace to all.
