Our thanks to Lindsay for her celebrant profile. Lindsay Tuckwell Wheatbelt and Perth. W.A. I was born in England and migrated to Australia in 1965. I have five children and consider myself extremely lucky to be a Granny. There is no love like the unconditional love of a grandchild. When I first came to Australia I lived in the South West and after my first marriage, in 1971, my husband and I operated an earthmoving business. At the same time I worked as a fulltime medical receptionist together with the fantastic job of bringing up a family. Sadly, two of my children have died, one in 1972 and another in 1993. During 1995 I completed a BA in Psychology. Unfortunately my first husband passed away in that same year. I remarried in 2001 and now reside between the Western Australian wheatbelt and the metropolitan area. I have completed a Diploma of Holistic Counselling. A few years ago I attended a funeral conducted by a Civil Celebrant and it was then that I knew I had found my career. I immediately found out all I needed to do to begin. I studied both, Funeral and Marriage Celebrancy and qualified in 2007. I was registered as a Marriage Celebrant in September 21st 2007. ![]() I love hearing people’s stories and my job means I get to hear so many. I believe I am honoured to assist people when they have lost a loved one and know that when the funeral (celebration of a person’s life) is delivered in a caring and innovative manner the families concerned can be assisted in their grieving process. The decision to marry is an important step for any couple and each wedding should be unique to them. I really enjoy the process of “getting the day right for them” and I always encourage them to write their own vows, as this just makes the ceremony so very special. I have only taken part in one Commitment Ceremony but the day stands out in my mind as one of the most emotional. The couple had both travelled along some rocky roads to their important day and I was so moved by their love for each other. The bride arrived in the back of a pink Volkswagen, and her partner was overwhelmed and in tears as she arrived. How lucky was I to be part of their day! I can envisage being a celebrant for many years to come and look forward to hearing a lot more new stories.
