Jacqueline Anstey Authorised Civil Celebrant - Appointed October 2008

Hi, I am a registered marriage celebrant, and  have extensive public speaking experience (over 12 years).

In my previous life, I was a corporate trainer and presenter, including some stints overseas.  I also dabbled in project management and commenced a counselling course as well.

My long term training job finally came to an end at a similar time to me becoming a parent.  What was I to do?  I was excited about the opportunity to reinvent myself and being able to choose a career which balanced home and work life.

I have always been drawn toward jobs which involve helping and actively engaging people so Marriage Celebrancy seemed like the perfect fit.  I took my public speaking and management skills along to the necessary training and here I am, a different kind of presenter.

My most treasured memory so far as been my involvement in a ‘surprise’ wedding (surprise for the guests that is!).

After being together for over 10 years, the couple told their guests they were being taken out to lunch.  They bundled the guests onto a double-decker bus and off to the winery they headed, only to find upon their arrival that it was in fact a wedding.  Guests and parents were suitably surprised and excited.  The best part for me was seeing the bride moved to tears when she discovered one of her brothers had secretly flown in from the UK that morning to attend.  After all, it’s nice, after all their planning, that a bride or groom can also be surprised on the day.

In five years time, I would like my celebrancy business to have expanded (I set annual goals for myself) and for me to have extended my services to conduct funerals (when my daughter is at school).

It’s a great job – I love this work!
