Many thanks to Liane for providing her profile. Brisbane celebrant Liane Kirwan Authorised Marriage Celebrant - Appointed September 2007My name is Liane Kirwan and I am an Authorised Marriage Celebrant and Justice of the Peace (Qualified). I am also a Speech and Drama Teacher, and, being a bit of an actor, I thought Celebrancy would be right up my alley.
So, about 15 years ago, I enquired about becoming a Marriage Celebrant and used to make a phone call to Canberra every year or so to see if they were appointing more Celebrants. I was delighted to find out, after years of waiting, they were accepting more Marriage Celebrants, so I completed my training and was registered in September 2007. Originally from New Zealand, I moved to Australia 23yrs ago and lived in Sydney 16 years before moving to the Gold Coast and then onto Brisbane where I live with my partner Craig and our two Staffies, Molly and Zed who are our “fur kids”. Craig has an important role in Brisbane Ceremonies as my Chief Technical Officer – or Roadie. He sets up my PA and handles the sound for the Ceremony which is fantastic as he is an ex-radio DJ, and I have to admit we make an awesome team! Not long ago a couple had a lovely and slightly crazy dog that they wanted to be part of their Wedding as Archie was such a big part of their lives. This gorgeous couple were married at a Reception venue on the Brisbane River and Archie stepped up to the plate on the day and behaved wonderfully – it might have been because his “handler” had run him around the park and he was exhausted! Anyway, Archie looked very handsome up the front with his shiny black fur and sash matching the bridal party as the Groom’s sister read a poem about what we can learn about love from dogs. I love presenting Weddings and other Ceremonies and get a huge buzz when a couple tell me their Wedding was “exactly what we wanted”. I guess getting to know people and designing a Ceremony to represent their personality, style and journey really is my thing. Brisbane Ceremonies is a passion and joy for me and I would ideally love to conduct Weddings, Commitment Ceremonies, Renewal of Vows and Naming Ceremonies for a long time to come, giving couples and families a Ceremony to treasure in their hearts always.
