My name is Elizabeth Wilkie and I am a newly appointed Celebrant as of June this year.
I’ve been married to Anthony for nearly 20 years now and we have two beautiful boys Paul 16 and Christopher 14.
Anthony and I run a small building renovation business which has given me the flexibility to stay home with the boys. I have also worked part time in retail which I loved except the hours were a bit of a juggle especially when the kids were little.
Even though Anthony is self employed it was sometimes impracticable to ask him to leave work to care for the boys especially if he was pouring a slab! So I decided (and was lucky enough) to stay at home and concentrate on being a full time mother.

Over the years apart from looking after the administrative side of the business, I’ve helped out at school, done a few TAFE courses in IT, operated a small ebay business selling kid’s clothes and become a JP volunteering at the local shopping centre which I love!
I still thought of the kids as “little” and suddenly one day I was looking at my two boys and realised how quickly they had grown up. Where had the time gone! They were no longer babies but independent young men! No wonder I had more time on my hands! But after sixteen years of looking after my family I needed something more, something that was fulfilling and something that was flexible and still allowed me to be there for them......
Around the same time, in one year we went to about four weddings. Nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters all decided to wed.
That got me thinking and everything fell into place. I will be a Celebrant!
I have a love for people, a love of words and a genuine desire to help. I can’t tell you how thrilled I was to be appointed!
In five years time I would like to have made a difference. I would like to be recommended by word of mouth and be so busy I don’t know what to do with myself!
But in all honesty, I’d just like to give my potential couples a beautiful ceremony.
