Canberra civil celebrant Daphne Cole JP Authorised 1 September 2005

I am a Canberra mother of three, married for over 30 years.  I love helping couples create a personalised service to celebrate their special wedding day.

I perform weddings, reaffirmation of vows and baby naming ceremonies in locations in and around Canberra and the NSW South Coast.  To date I have conducted around 50 ceremonies and I plan to continue my passion well into the future, operating from the beautiful coastal town of Tomakin.

I enjoy travelling to nearby towns to do ceremonies and think that Canberra and nearby NSW surrounds have some of the most beautiful formal and informal venues to celebrate special occasions.

I love visiting the chapels, gardens, lakes, beaches and home backyards and helping people choose the ceremony that is right for them and their situation.

I am an active member of the ACCN as well as the Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants and pride myself on my professionalism and discretion.  My first priority is always the happiness and comfort of my clients and each of my ceremonies is developed with the individual in mind.

What attracted me to celebrancy

I became a civil celebrant because I enjoy weddings and the job satisfaction I receive from marrying two people who are in love.  I feel connected with the couple and families and feel a great sense of satisfaction at both the end of the ceremony and especially when approached by the couple to conduct another special occasion ceremony for them.

I like tailoring my ceremonies for individuals and unique situations. Civil Marriage Ceremonies allow freedom of choice, and I enjoy preparing meaningful commemorations, working with families and children to prepare beautiful ceremonies.

Treasured memory related to celebrancy

There are many special moments but how can you forget your very first ceremony? With adrenaline pumping the nerves kick in, your palms sweat, hands shake, glasses fog up and then you say that first word – Welcome.  Looking around people are smiling, crying and nodding and you gain strength from them to keep reading. Suddenly it’s over, you’ve done your job, all went well, better than you could have ever imagined.  Friends, family and even strangers come up and congratulate you and then you say to yourself.

– YES this is what I want to do for the rest of my life – I LOVE IT!

Where would I like to be in 5 years

Residing permanently at Tomakin NSW, conducting meaningful ceremonies on the NSW South Coast and surrounding regions.
