My name is Jill Standen and I am a full time professional celebrant.

My back ground has always been working with the public at all levels.

I have worked in retail for Marks and Spencers UK I trained as a Supervisor in the store. Also learnt store security which has helped me later in my life. While I lived in England I worked with children as a Kindergarten Teacher. This was the job I loved the most.

I was Assistant Manager of the David Jones Wine Club, functions such as Black Tie dinners, lunches and cocktail parties helping coordinate them, that was part of my job. I met some wonderful people over the years.

I worked as an Office Manager in an Audio Company for nearly 15 years. I looked after the accounts, taking phone bookings for customers.

I joined International Toastmasters over three years ago, I am now a Competent Speaker. Toastmasters has given me the confidence and ability in speaking especially now I am a Celebrant.

My aim as a full-time Celebrant is to provide my clients with a professional, dignified and beautiful ceremony, planned to their personal requirements, with a relaxed atmosphere to ensure they feel comfortable with me.

I love helping to create a beautiful, unique service and endeavour to exceed the expectations of all my clients. Whether the wedding is a beautiful Australian beach, in open country, hotels, function centres or private residences, that is no problem to me. When required I use a professional sound system, to ensure all my clients can hear the service, noise free and with clarity, for both speech and the music of their choice.

The attraction at first to become a Celebrant was as my husband’s helper for a number of years I could see first hand the enjoyment excitement also full fillment at the end of the service on everyone’s faces.

Two special memories for me, My first naming for a couple who were told they could not have children.their little girl would not sit still, until I started the service.Then she was so engrossed In what I was saying. I knew as she looked at me that this was the best job for me.

The Second was my third Wedding when the little flower girl who had a basket of flowers to sprinkle on the red carpet. She grabbed a handful and threw them up in the air and just smiled at her parents as the petals feel on her. These are moments I will treasure.

I have made many wonderful friends within this industry and I am very thankful of that.

In five years time working as a Celebrant I hope to have my health and continue to improve my work with the general public.
