Our thanks to Ange for his celebrant profile.

Celebrants come from many backgrounds, bringing a wealth of personal experience and passion to their ceremonies. Here we would like to celebrate our diversity.

Ange Kenos

Ange Kenos is a former Australian naval officer, teacher and occasional business man. He has sat on various Boards, written books, been a freelance journalist, served on countless charitable and community groups and travelled from bush settings to coastal communities all around Australia, most of it with the Navy. Also active in ethnic communities, he has been a pioneer in various roles including medical complaints systems, insurance complaints systems and in education. Ange is today a municipal councillor in a major Melbourne community and President of a region of the Australian College of Educators, amongst other hats.

Ange is also a serial sports volunteer including the Olympics, Masters Games, Commonwealth Games, and many others. He is an Olympic certified weightlifting coach and national referee, and was previously a long serving soccer referee.

Some 16 years ago a friend asked Ange to support her request to become a Celebrant and several people said to him that he should also consider this role for himself. Five years later, Ange was appointed.

Ange went on to serve the Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants for eight loyal years as Vice President and worked hard in a number of areas including supporting fellow Celebrants and pushing for the AFCC to conduct its own training for members.

Ange is a firm believer in setting higher standards for Celebrants, in better training but also in strong support systems.

Information
He hopes that the new national body can achieve positive progress for Celebrancy in a number of areas over then next few years, but also argues that while we must offer quality we must also seek fair compensation for our services.
