Combination Ceremonies

Postby gjk777 » Wed Jan 20, 2010 12:48 pm

Hi all, :D

Just a quick query. I was approached a few months ago to conduct a Wedding Ceremony in Swan Hill for April, 2010.

I spoke to the bride to be a few days ago and a spanner has been thrown in the works for date selected. (Sorry not a spanner but a "baby"). ;) She was wondering if instead of conducting the Wedding in April, it be conducted after the baby is born and then a combination of Ceremonies similtaneously be conducted for the Wedding and the naming of the couples new baby and also the naming of her 3 year old.

I told her that would be no problem and just would add an extra $200.00 to the wedding celebrant cost to cover the 2 namings and all acompanying certificates, etc. She is excited I am able to include her 3 year old in the Wedding Ceremony and bring the whole family together in the one ceremony.

My query, obviously I haven't done a combination ceremony of this type before and am looking forward to writing the ceremony mixing various concepts many of you have shared, especially those that are permanent reminders for the family. I will also create a new concept that blends a combination ceremony to make it unique for the family. Apart from the normal legal requirements re the marriage is there anything further I should or shouldn't do?

Thanks to all for your passion and sharing in our common interest.

GJK :)

Hi Greg,

Sounds like a lovely spanner! And it also sounds like you have everything "in hand".

There's nothing glaringly obvious that's been omitted from your email. I think the only part that springs to mind is that the 3 year old is taken to the venue beforehand so they are familiar with you and the environment, and make sure the time of the Ceremony is well balanced with 3 yr old sleep pattern...but you've probably already thought of those.

Warmest regards,

Thanks Ginny. :)

Good point re Sleep Patterns. Often these are a problem for the elderly also especially if Ceremony not long after Lunch. I recall attending a Funeral for research purposes when doing the course in Funeral Celebrancy and one elderly lady in the congregation snored so loud she upstaged the entire Ceremony! :o

Best regards always

Greg
